The People’s Democratic Party(PDP) Imo State chapter has raised the alarm over banking transactions leading to massive withdrawals to the tune of N17b in the last three days by Governor Rochas Okorocha since the declaration of Imo Governorship election results by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC).
Briefing newsmen Thursday, the PDP State Chairman,Barr. Charles Babatunde Ezekwem said that between Tuesday, 12th March, 2019 and Thursday,14th March, 2019,Governor Okorocha had made major withdrawals from Access Bank,Zenith Bank,Unity Bank and Skye Bank amounting to N17billion.
The chairman maintained that in the last two days alone, the governor and his cronies had transferred ownership and re-registered over 180 government vehicles to individuals, adding that government properties, including furniture and electronics in the Government House were being moved out to Okorocha’s country home, Ogboko in Ideato South local government area.
He also said that over 300 uninstalled transformers had been moved to Ogboko,while engaging in mass employment and back-dating same with a view to causing problems for the incoming government.
Ezekwem further disclosed that his party was aware of the rampant issuance of Certificate of Occupancy(C of O) to family members and friends of Okorocha’s family and warned those involved that it was at their own peril, likening it to the massive looting of Imo treasury, Paris Club and Bailout funds which led to plunging the state into indebtedness.
